Building 3 at Navy Federal Credit Union is their fourth LEED Gold Facility. It houses Collections, Human Resources, Administration for campus activities, and central functions for food service, health and wellness, and skills training. Building 3 also contains a central cafeteria for the campus, a fitness and wellness facility, a health clinic staffed by nurses, a campus control facility fully computerized for monitoring and regulating all security and mechanical/electrical equipment on campus, human relations training and interviewing areas, conference rooms, and a campus “war” room. The food service operation comprises 16,178 sf. of this building and has a full-size modern kitchen, a servery with a pizza oven, full hot and cold food menu choices, and both indoor and outdoor dining. The fitness facility includes treadmills, bicycles, locker rooms, and a synthetic wood floor for specialized sports studios. Building 3 employs over 600 associates, and like Building 2, is also LEED Gold certified. The original design of this building was based on a structural steel frame similar to Building 2, but because of the high demand for steel at that time, Greenhut suggested changing the structure to a concrete frame, which saved Navy Federal $4 million.
