Privately funded, the National Flight Academy is destined to be one of the premier educational facilities in the United States. The Academy is designed and constructed to replicate an aircraft carrier and will have ready rooms, berthing areas, bathrooms (“head”), and classrooms with the look and feel of a ship. It will also contain sophisticated flight simulators to provide students a realistic aviation experience. The concept of the academy is to provide educational opportunities for 7th through 12th grade students in science and math and to promote attributes of Navy life. The students will live, dine, exercise, and study at the Academy for 6 days and celebrate graduation on the 7th day.
The Flight Academy is adjacent to the National Naval Aviation Museum which houses displays of historical aircraft throughout Navy history. The facilities are located on the Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.
