This project is for the repair of the damage caused by Hurricane Ivan to Hanger Buildings 1853, 1854, 3221, and 3260; Fight Line Buildings 1852, 1878, and 3610; and Supply Warehouse 3581 at Naval Air Station, Pensacola. Due to the proximity to the Blue Angels and flight operations, Greenhut was required to maintain a strict schedule for repairs and debris removal in order not to impact flight operations or interfere with base aircraft.
The work consisted of replacing or making major repairs to the roofing systems on the majority of these buildings. The roof replacement was accomplished while all of the facilities remained in full operation. The interior finishes in the damaged areas of the buildings were replaced as well. The complete HVAC system was replaced in building 1853, which required a phasing schedule for spaces to be evacuated, demolished, and mechanical systems to be installed.
Greenhut participated in the owner’s environmental disposal plan, removing over 24 tons of recyclable steel.
